Brehm, Granlund Named CCIW Men's Soccer Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Elmhurst's Jon Brehm and North Park's Hannes Granlund were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Soccer Players of the Week Tuesday.

Brehm, a senior from Sinking Spring, Pa., and Wilson High School, helped lead Elmhurst to a 2-1 record last week. Brehm totaled three goals and one assist, scoring a goal in all three of the Bluejays' contests. On Tuesday, he bent home a direct kick and added an assist on the game-winning goal in Elmhurst's 6-0 win over Monmouth. On Friday, he scored the Bluejays' first goal in a 3-1 victory over the College of New Jersey at the Elizabethtown College tournament. On Saturday, he tallied a goal in Elmhurst's 3-2 loss to Elizabethtown. He was named the tournament's offensive MVP. Brehm is a Logistics and Supply Chain Management major.

Granlund, a freshman defender from Trollhattan, Sweden, helped anchor the North Park defense during a pair of wins last week. On Wednesday, the Vikings defeated Concordia (Wis.), 2-1, and Alma, 1-0, on Saturday. Granlund and the North Park defense held Alma to six shots on goal and Concordia (Wis.) to four shots on goal. Granlund has started in all five games, scored one goal and has two shots. He is an International Business major.
